IBPS Common Entrance Test For Nationalized Banks

IBPS Common Entrance Test For Nationalized Banks

There was need to bring in a system where there is common entrance test for selection of clerical, officer and specialist officer’s cadres in nationalized banks in India. This system is not new and many engineering/ medical/ CA and other competitive exams are held in this way, good examples can be AIEEE, CAT, GMAT, ICAI CPT, etc.
Indian Bank Association has decided to introduce a system for initial short listing of candidates to avoid them inconvenience of appearing in multiple examinations conducted by individual banks at regular intervals of time with abrupt vacancies, this system will enable candidate to better prepare for this common entrance exam and schedule accordingly.
The exam will be conducted by Institute of banking personnel selection (IBPS) twice in a year for each cadre. The candidates appearing for the exam will be given a score card which will be valid for one year from the date of issue. Then candidates can send applications with their score and other educational qualifications and experience to respective banks to which one intends to join. Then Bank will conduct group discussions, interviews and other screening process.
Other details that will be provided by IBPS notification whenever it is published on behalf of Banks will also contain the following information
Minimum Eligibility Age, Educational qualifications, relaxations etc.

1.                  Guidelines regarding the application process
2.                  Tentative dates of examinations
3.                  Structure of examinations, syllabus
4.                  Issuance of Admit cards/ call letters

Implementation of scheme 1st June, 2011
